Sahmra A. Stevenson is the founding partner of S.A. Stevenson Law, LLC, with offices located in Rockville and Greenbelt, Maryland where she focuses on family law, estate planning, general civil litigation and small business formation. During her time in practice Sahmra has received several awards and accolades, including an induction into the Maryland Bar Foundation and being recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers.
While matriculating at Washington College of Law Ms. Stevenson worked for judges in both D.C. Superior Court and the D.C. District Court. She also served as a Rule 16 student attorney with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office where she litigated cases at both the District and Circuit Court levels. Upon completion of her second year at WCL Sahmra was one of six law students in the country selected by the NAACP to participate in the 2009 NAACP/Kellogg’s Law Fellow Program. After graduating American University with a Juris Doctor, Ms. Stevenson worked for the Honorable Judge David W. Young in the Baltimore City Circuit Court where she oversaw a criminal felony docket. She left Baltimore for work in the District of Columbia and Prince George's County, Maryland.
Ms. Stevenson is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association (“MSBA”) and served as one of fourteen 2013-2014 MSBA Leadership Academy Fellows. In 2013 she was selected as the recipient of the 2013 MSBA Rising Star Award, and in 2015 she graciously accepted the Melody Tagliaferri-Cronin Distinguished Service Award for her work with the Young Lawyers Section. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Technology Committee for the MSBA Young Lawyers Section, Chair of the Communications and Media Committee for the MSBA Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, and as a member of the Technology, Leadership Academy and Membership Committees for the Maryland State Bar Association.
As a proud member of the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (“YLD”) Sahmra served as an Assistant Editor of The Affiliate Newsletter from 2012 through 2015. Ms. Stevenson is currently serving as a 2014-2015 Diversity Scholar with the ABA Young Lawyers Division and as a 2014-2015 Young Lawyer Fellow with the ABA’s Solo, Small Firm & General Practice Section. In Fall of 2015 she will begin a two-year term as a Diversity Fellow with the ABA Business Law Section’s Leadership Diversity Outreach Committee and a one year Presidential Appointment with the ABA’s Youth At Risk Advisory Committee. Throughout the 2015-2016 bar year she will also continue to serve the Young Lawyers Division as the Fit-To-Practice Lead for the National Conferences Team of the YLD.
